Inlay is a technique in which different materials are inserted into recessed surfaces and combined within a single object. Focusing on how different materials create contrast and harmony within a single surface, this work explores the material relationship between leather and metal.

Leather is more responsive to its environment than metal, accumulating traces of time through aging. As the two materials transform at different rates and in different ways, they establish a distinctive relationship within a shared structure, one that continually reveals itself in new ways depending on the surrounding conditions.
