금속 중에서도 검은 철(열연강판)은 피막이 두꺼워 표면이 은백색으로 드러나기까지 오랜 시간이 소요된다. 작품은 칠흑 같은 표면을 인위적으로 산(酸) 세척하여 물체의 마모된 자리를 마치 수백 년의 시간이 그려낸 회화처럼 드러내고, 빛나는 표면으로 마감함으로써 응축된 시간을 밝힌다.

This work examines subtle traces found in objects and the stories embedded within them, revealing ideas that emerge and transform over extended periods of time.
Among metals, black iron (hot-rolled steel) has a thick oxide layer, requiring considerable time for its silvery surface to emerge. The work artificially acid-washes the pitch-black surface, revealing worn areas as if painted by hundreds of years of time. The final polished surface illuminates the condensed traces of time embedded within the material.
