〈혼성어(Portmanteau) 02〉는 작업실 한켠에 남겨진 목재 부산물을 활용하여 제작되었다. 목재 부산물이 지닌 개별적인 형태를 최대한 유지한 채, 별도의 접착제 없이 각 조각이 서로 기대어 설 수 있는 균형점을 모색하였다.
단일 조각 〈유아독존〉을 제외한 작품들은 서로를 보완하고 지지하는 관계 속에서 하나의 구조를 이룬다. 그 위로 새겨진 표식은 보이지 않는 관계를 시각화한 것으로, 일시적으로 무너질 경우에도 다시 연결될 수 있는 접점으로 작용한다. 홀로 서는 방식 또한 존재하겠지만, 본 작업을 통해 서로를 존중하고 의지하며 공존할 수 있는 관계의 방식을 조형적으로 제안한다.
Portmanteau 02 was created from wood scraps left in a corner of the studio. Preserving their individual forms as much as possible, the work seeks points of balance where the pieces can stand by leaning against one another without adhesives.
With the exception of the single autonomous piece 〈Standing Alone〉, the works form structures based on relationships of mutual support and complementarity. Above them, engraved marks visualize otherwise invisible relationships, functioning as points of connection that allow the structures to be reassembled even after temporary collapse. While a mode of solitary existence may also be possible, this work ultimately proposes a sculptural condition in which coexistence is achieved through mutual reliance and relational balance.
