고온에서 생산되어 거친 질감을 지닌 열연강판(검은 철)은 변형이 쉽지 않은 견고한 상태로 보이지만, 반복적인 마찰을 통해 표면을 벗겨내면 은폐되어 있던 또 다른 영역이 드러난다. 이는 공간이라는 개념이 자연적으로 주어지는 것이 아니라, 물질에 대한 지속적인 개입을 통해 구성되는 관계적 구조임을 보여준다.
The Private Area series explores the spatial qualities of specific objects through their relationship with materials. A table is an object in which areas frequently engaged by the user coexist with areas that remain largely untouched. Territory Table visualizes how distinct zones can form within a single object through different degrees of interaction.
Hot-rolled steel, produced at high temperatures, appears robust and resistant to deformation with its rough surface. Yet through repeated friction, its outer layer is gradually worn away, revealing another concealed layer beneath. This suggests that space is not something naturally given, but a relational structure formed through sustained intervention into material.
